How to Install & Enable Google Toolbar in Firefox 16, 17 and 18

As you know Google toolbar no longer supported for Firefox. And there will be no new version or updates for security fixes from Google. But you can still use Google toolbar in Firefox using this tricks, but use this tricks at your own risk because there’s no security update from google no more.

First you have to find old version of firefox that support for google toolbar, the latest that can use this toolbar is Firefox 14. Install that version.

Now locate this file and folder on windows explorer: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hrdhenvl.default\extensions

Find directory where the Google Toolbar is installed, something like this: {3112ca9c-de6d-4884-a869-9855de68056c}.

Open that folder, and there should be a file called install.rdf. Open it in a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++.

Search for <em:maxVersion>4.0.*</em:maxVersion> and replace the number 4.0 with the latest firefox that you going to install.

Now you can update your firefox to the latest version and you can still enable or use Google toolbar in Firefox.

Restart Firefox and Google Toolbar should be back and working with the latest versions of firefox (Firefox 16, Firefox 17, Firefox 18 and Firefox 19).

If youn can’t find Firefox profile folder you can use this tips:

1. Press “Windows key + R” to open the Run box (or, you can click “Start ? Run…” on Windows 2000/XP)
2. In the Run box, type in %APPDATA%
3. Click OK. A Windows Explorer window will appear.
4. In this window, choose Mozilla ? Firefox ? Profiles.
